Description

NGC 7497 galaxy was discovered on October 15, 1784, by William Herschel and is located approximately 53 million light-years away in Pegasus. MBM 54, a IFN cloud, is illuminated by our own galaxy, with the distance of approximately 900 light-years away.

"In 1985 the astronomers Magnani, Blitz and Mundy (MBM) developed a catalogue of 56 high galactic latitude molecular clouds. These clouds of interstellar dust, also known as Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN) or Galactic Cirrus lies above the galactic plane and dimly reflect the starlight of our Milky Way. MBM 54 is located in the constellation Pegasus. Many other galaxies far beyond the Milky Way, like NGC 7497, are visible through the faint clouds of interstellar dust". (distant-lights.at)

Lot´s of work on L to provide the faint details on IFNs. Data captured by Greg Turgeon. This final image is a result of a LRGB combination on 10 hours of exposure time.
